Sudden Stratospheric Warming (SSW) Event
Meteorologists have warned Sudden Stratospheric Warming (SSW) event may occur in December this year. SSW will send unusually cold Arctic air into parts of United States.
What is SSW event?
It is rapid rise in stratospheric temperature that weakens or distorts the Polar Vortex, the circulation of strong westerlies winds around the Arctic often causing major weather anomalies at the surface.
